Example repair job
Moth holes in a favourite wool jumper
Clothing & textiles · Bristol (BS6) · Completed · budget £35
Agreed price £28 · paid by card on collection
This is how a repair goes on Little Menders, from posting the job to picking it up. Hannah described the problem, local menders offered to help, and she chose the one that suited her.
The job
My grandad's navy lambswool jumper has three small moth holes: two on the left sleeve and one near the hem. I'd love them mended before they spread. Visible mending is fine if matching the colour isn't possible.

- Lambswool

Offers from local menders
Menders nearby see the job and reply with how they'd fix it, when, and roughly what it costs.
I darn knitwear most weeks and keep a box of navy wools, so I should be able to match it closely. Three small holes is a nice tidy job.
Within a week · £25–£30 · Workshop
Happy to do a visible mend with a contrasting yarn if you fancy something a bit different. Post it to me and I'll send it back.
About 2 weeks · £20 · Mail-in
If the hem is thinning I may need to reknit a few rows there. I'd want to see it before giving a firm price.
3–5 days · £35–£40, subject to inspection · Collection
The quote
Darn the three moth holes with matching navy lambswool, then hand-wash and block the jumper.
I'll check the rest of the jumper for weak spots and ask you before doing anything extra.

The review
Priya was lovely from start to finish. The darns are almost invisible and the whole jumper came back softer than when it went in. I'll be back with the rest of the moth-nibbled pile!
Reply from Priya: Thank you Hannah, it was a pleasure. Cedar balls in the drawer will help keep the moths away.
